How cute are they!

Oh, I can't believe I have a rising first grader! Maury's graduation from kindergarten at Calvary (our church and where she attended 2s, 3s and 4s as well) was so much fun. They sang songs for each month of school and wore the precious caps and gowns. Then the end of the graduation ceremony was interrupted with the delivery of a gingerbread man, who they had tracked all this spring as a geography lesson and got to eat at the reception. It was really cute. She enjoyed her special day so much and was sad to not go to kindergarten any more.

This song is such a reminder for us to enjoy our children. We'll be praying for the Chapmans who lost their 5 year old in a tragic accident last Wednesday.

Mother's Day 2008

Conner and Maury especially liked the kite-flying.
Grandmother and my dad, Papa
Grandmother and Rebecca
Grandmother with 6 of her 22 GREAT grandchildren!!!
This Mother's day we went to church and then the park for a picnic lunch with my sister's kids, the Carruths and my parents. My grandmother also came from Missouri for Mother's Day and we talked her into staying for the week. She raised 6 kids and now has a million grands and greats (I am not sure how many total-it's a lot). We had her going everywhere from Katie Beth's voice recital, Conner's baseball, my girls' t-ball and dance recital and Maury's kindergarten graduation. She even came to Lucy's end of the year school party at my house. We really enjoyed her visit!

T-ball for Maury and Lucy

Before the first practice
"I get to play!" She grinned the whole game.
This is old hat for me. I am so big.
These cheetos are so good. Good hit, sis!

Maury has gotten to play t-ball for the past 2 summers, and this summer Lucy gets to play, too. Richard's the coach and the team is made up of 4-6 year olds. We play out at a church ball field and it's a very laid back approach, just learning the fundamentals of ball. No score and no outs. Everyone hits. And yes, those are black cleats, and they use pink gloves!

Faves

I wanted to tell you about the blog "Surholts" listed under my faves. It's called "Home with Heather" and Heather is a girl who went to Tupelo High and was a DG with me at State. I run into her on occasion and loved finding her blog- it has crock pot recipes every Wednesday and her journal entries are interesting and amusing. Also, through her blog I found a link to Baby Bangs, which is Beth Moore's daughter's blog. Check these out when you have time!

Crazy Days of Kindergarten and Muffins for Moms

Silly Shoe day

Crazy days of kindergarten included Silly Hat day, Backwards day (no photo, although I took several without the card in - something I've been known to do), Career day - also was Muffins for Moms day, Silly shoe and Crazy Hair day (they also spray painted her hair pink at school). Maury loved this week leading up to graduation week and the end of the year party in kindergarten. Muffins for mom was so cute - they gave us handpainted mugs, photos and sang songs (M-o-m-m-y to the tune of Bingo and another sweet song). They also answered questions about our age and favorites. Maury got my age right and my favorite tv show was "the one where they fix up houses". She said "cheese toast" was my favorite food, I think because I try to get her to eat it instead of cinnamon toast. Several kids said their moms' favorite food was green beans, I think for the same reason! And some thought their moms were 60+ years old! On Donuts for Dads they even had the kids guess the weight - Maury guessed 80 pounds for Richard. They knew better than letting them guess the weight of the moms!

Also, thanks to those of you who sent letters/postcards to the class with sightings of the gingerbread man. The map has all the spots on it marked and the letters were posted. Maury loved telling me about where all the gingerbread man had been. What a great geography lesson! And they will be eating the gingerbread man at the graduation party!

Catch up

Anna Belle, Miss Melissa and Lucy Helen

Okay, this time of year is busier than Christmas with all the end of the year stuff. Today Lucy has strep and tomorrow is Maury's kindergarten graduation, t-ball for both and dance recital practice for both big girls. I have a couple of weeks of pics to catch up on - starting with the Calvary preschool music program and church choir program, too. Not the greatest pictures, but my girls are in the turqouise and then the last photo, Maury has white and a big white bow.

Dancing Artist

When Maury was little I got out the easel all the time. These days it's not as often...my thinking is that I already have enough messes without paint, too. But I want Lucy to get the chance to paint like her big sis did. She was loving it on this day when she painted on the porch and I took her picture.

Fun with the Logans

We had our next door neighbors the Logans over for hamburgers last week. Lily and John are 10 months old and Brooke is 8. All 6 kids had fun. We love living next to this sweet family.
