Catch the reading bug

We live practically across the street from the library and love to stroll, walk or even drive there if I am feeling lazy. I bribe the girls to read books by renting the free (or 25 cents a day if you're late) movies there. They are all about borrowing some movies!! This summer we did the summer reading program which involved keeping track of all the books we read, including the serial number -a 25 digit long number on each book. They had awards day while Maury was at the lake so Lucy Helen got to get all the awards for her and Maury. She even ended up in the county newspaper! It was a long program but worth it for the free book, t-shirt(a very green adult size XL for Daddy), butterfly, free chicken leg from Popeye's and some other snazzy bug-themed prizes. The Rotary gave one scholastic book to all participants and LH was thrilled with her Diego adventure book! A former t-ball teammate's mother sent me the digital pic of Lucy Helen and her son Davis. I really want my girls to love reading! If chicken legs and bugs help, I am all for it!!! I just don't want anyone giving a dollar to the library fund because they want to build a new library some where else....I love my library right where it is!

Vacation Bible School

A church friend Lisa, who's also a photographer sent me some pics from our church's VBS, which was the first week of June. Some of these were in the slide show on family night. I was too busy to take any myself that week, so I am so glad she captured some and sent them to me! I taught the largest group - 27 first graders and I loved it. And my girls enjoyed it, too.

Lucy

i don't know why i thought this was so funny. i told lucy to chase the sea gulls away because i was scared they were going to swoop down to eat the crackers out of rebecca's hands. she is a funny little girl!

The whole gang!

There are very few pictures of all 3 girls and none of them are great! Rebecca was ALWAYS running or squirming and not nearly as cooperative as last year when she would stay where ever I plopped her down!!!!

Snaggletooth!

We just got back from vacation and now I need a vacation! Just kidding, but I am really tired and had to teach today at ICC. I stayed up too late talking to my teenage nieces the last night and then got no rest on the way home. I had a LOT of help while I was there. The five of us went with my parents, nieces Katie Beth and Kelsey and nephew, Conner. We appreciate my parents taking us and all 10 of us had a blast. I'll probably do one of those slideshows to include lots of pics later!!! The highlights were: smores, Maury losing a tooth at Johnny Rockets, riding the huge ferris wheel at the Wharf, Build a Bear, eating at Lulu's, fireworks, bargains at the outlet mall, finding good shells and even a starfish, big waves, our new pet Crabby the hermit crab (another thing to keep alive), and lots of fun memories. The "lows" were jellyfish stings (oh the drama) and my mother getting stuck in the elevator (luckily a man got the door open and she climbed out in a few minutes). Posted by Picasa
