Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Pied Piper had the cutest fundraiser for the play - a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Maury and Lucy had a great time. They decorated big hats and made clocks, like the White Rabbit's (I'm late, I'm late...). They also played croquet and ate cute food the shape of clubs, hearts, etc. like the cards in the play.

This week is production week for Maury. She is in Alice in Wonderland, put on by the Pied Piper Children's Playhouse. She's had fun being a rose bush and is looking forward to missing a half day of school on Friday for her first performance. The play is Friday and Saturday and we are looking forward to it.

Apple a day....

The whole first grade at Maury's school took a field trip to Pontotoc to pick apples, muscadines and chestnuts.... They were all about the apples and had a great time! I got to go and had a blast! Maury's having a great year and her classmates are adorable.

Twinkle toes....

Maury's enjoying ballet again this year, although Rebecca cries every we drop her off!!! She is really excited to get to be an angel in the Nutcracker this year, too.
She also got to go to a fun birthday party where she dressed up like a disney channel character...this was a new one. Princesses we have done before, this was the first time she's dressed up like a tween queen!!! Elementary school has brought us a lot of firsts and changes this year.....I can't even fathom the future when we have a house full of teenage girls....YIKES.

Coach Drew is on a mission trip so Rich and Kenneth are helping out

Lucy's having fun wearing her PINK uniform and playing in her first soccer games. I hope that by the end of the season she is fully aware of which goal is hers and how to get the ball towards that goal.... Thanks, Heather for the cute pics! It's going to be a fun season!

Lucy Helen's firsts for Fall

oLucy Helen's first day of 3 day four year old preschool. Rebecca has her bag ready too! I love this picture - it is so "them." Maury's hand has marker all over it and Rebecca is still in her pj's (like she usually is when I drive the big sisters to school).
Notice the dog on her dress "eating" the milk bone name tag!!!

I love a fresh start and we are finally getting into a routine, now that September is upon us. I love new pencils, new notebooks and all the school supplies. I like my blank calendar and filling it up neatly (at least to start with). Lucy Helen has now started school and ballet for the year and soccer has begun, too. She is really enjoying Mrs. Kevin Ann's class (which has a dog theme) and even wore a dog dress on the first day, with a stategically placed dog bone name tag. Her name tag got dropped and part of it broke off, so we put it near the dog's mouth, as if the dog had taken a bite!!!!! Lemons into lemonade!!!!!

"The best Bible I've ever had"

Maury, Sarah, Anna Caitlyn and Rebekah with their Bibles in church

Maury and her fellow first graders were presented Bibles in church Sunday. This Bible has been a huge hit. She has been sleeping with it, toting it to play practice and highlighting in it! She has even written "LOOK" and drawn arrows to each verse that has a picture with it (the pictures are not on the same page, so she had to locate each passage)! At first I didn't like her marking it up and then I told myself to get over it (why squelch the enthusiasm). I want to encourage her interest in reading the Bible, even if it involves arrows and pink markings. Her passion for reading it has encouraged me to get my own Bible and post it highlighter out and go to town myself. I pray that her love for God's word continues to grow. Thanks Jo-Lynn for the picture!!!

Labor Day part 259

Merrill (Richard's brother from Bham), Richard and and a portion of their children.
The paparazzi trying to get 8 children to all look and smile simultaneously. You will see the best one I got below!!!!
Couldn't leave out the picture of Rebecca's cheek!!!!!

I know I know. I should have just done a slide show. Too late for that now.

Labor Day beach trip part 4

On our annual Labor Day weekend with the Johnstons in Destin, Little Merrill got buried. What a good sport with all those girl cousins! It took me four posts to include all the pics....you can look at it bigger if you click on the photo! We had fun.
Maury made me take this pic!

Too tired to go up the stairs!
