I found my thrill, part II

Mallory took up with the farmer!!! How cute is that.

I found my thrill......on blueberry hill

Emerson, LH, R, Meri Alan and camera shy Bailey
Rebecca loved eating them!

"I picked these for you, too!"

Well the newspaper had a front page story on u-pick farms. What fun!!! Several of us and our daughters went to one in Corinth to pick blueberries. The nice farmer told us "I told that newspaper lady there warn't no more blueberries to pick. Ya'll hep yourself- no charge for whatever you can find." or something like that, according to Heather, the first to arrive.
Well about 45 minutes and almost a POUND of blueberries later, we had ourselves a bargain. Rebecca had her squeaker shoes on so I could keep track of her. She and Mallory, the other one year old with us ate their weight in blueberries- as fast as I could pick them. It was fun until we ate at pizza grocery and my toddler was squeaking with not just her shoes, beyond tired after running around the blueberry farm. She fell asleep almost in the parking lot after wearing me out, during what would have been a really good lunch. We are planning to visit the same farm before the end of the season next year.... a beautiful place and a beautiful day!

my little chef

While Maury's been at big school, Lucy Helen and I have been in the kitchen cooking everything from pork chops to brownies. It tries my patience so much when it's both big sisters but with LH only, she gets to pour all of it and there are no fights over whose turn to stir, etc. She has actually been very helpful......but we only do it when Rebecca's asleep....it's no fun keeping her out of the way. She thinks she is big enough to do anything her sisters do!

Splish splashin fun!!!!!!

I can't believe how many things are going on in Tupelo for kids!!! And another free one to enjoy. So glad to finally hit the splash pad. Already excited about next summer. Any place where there is shade and I don't have to don a swimsuit or even get wet - what a great place!!!!

What is this feeling? So sudden and new ....

I am waaaay behind in my blogging. School starting has rocked our world. These pics are from TCT Theater Camp in July. Maury loved it and her favorite was the song from Wicked "What is this feeling?"
Her next theatrical event is starring (no small parts only small actors) as a member of the jury in Pied Piper Playhouse's Alice in Wonderland. She is very excited about the musical. Pied Piper is great b/c all the kids get parts and it's for K-6th grade. There are 5 alices and multiple other parts, too. I love it that they share the main parts - more kids get to participate. We go to a meeting Sunday to sign a behavioral contract (brilliant) and find out more.

Zoo recap

On our way to a family reunion in Missouri, we spent a day at the memphis zoo and pink palace. They were promoting 4 animals' birthday celebrations, and the kids got to do crafts and we sang to the animals and they gave them a delicious present, like a slab of meat, bamboo shoots or giant ice cube. Well the ploy to get people to come to the zoo in the middle of July in 100 degree weather worked. Our favorite was LeLe (pronounced Lulla) and his birthday celebration. He looked like a giant webkinz!!!! So cute.

More first day of first grade

I could get really sad about first grade but I am trying not to. It does feel like the end of something but at the same time an exciting start to a new phase of M's life (and ours). I pray that she'll be a good friend, show love to others at school and learn lots and lots this year!
And I'm just glad she woke me up this morning dressed and ready, since Rebecca had turned down the volume on my alarm clock and i was snoozing away. probably not the first time i will oversleep!!!

See ya about supper time

"I guess I'll see ya about supper time..." that's what maury said about her first day of all-day school....first grade at church street. It felt like a really long day to me too. Her teacher Mrs. Wyatt was in matching black and white and her favorite thing was the mashed potatoes and gravy in the cafeteria. It was a good day. Probably the one who felt like the day was the longest was Lucy Helen. But pretty soon she and Rebecca will be tearing the house up together, just like she and Maury were 2 1/2 years ago.....we celebrated with ice cream after picking her up.

Okay, I was not looking forward to Richard's class reunion...after all, I am SOOOO much younger than him (3 1/2 years-haha). And it was my sister's class....but it ended up being so much fun! I loved seeing Camille's friends having a great time and there were lots of pictures of her on the video and other displays (it was bittersweet- they really honored her memory in a precious way). And Richard and I had fun with his friends and danced to a band that played 80s music -so great. We ended up having a great time and he had to drag me away from the dance floor.
I have been on hiatus from blogging and there's so much to catch up on!!! I'll post more later.

If you missed the Chapmans on Larry King....

here's a link. What an amazing testimony of faith.
